Abstract

This paper describes the design, creation, and prototyping of a new open source software application to manage digital collections. The software is standards based, being strongly rooted in Dublin Core. This paper highlights the particular design objective of this software: it allows decentralized maintenance of sub-collections (“virtual collections”) within a larger collection.
